Let’s view Polar bears habitat via Google Street View…
Since February 27, 2014 and in honour of International Polar Bear Day, one can now pay a virtual visit via Google Street View to white Arctic bears on the wonderful tundra lanscape of remote town of Churchill in Northern Manitoba in Canada, home to one of the largest Polar bear populations on the planet… click here >>
To map the region, Google outfitted a “Tundra Buggy,” a popular, specially-designed all-terrain vehicle for the frozen North, with a Street View 360-degree camera. Krista Wright, Executive Director of the conservation group Polar Bears International, in a guest blog for Google indicated: “… the Google Maps team mounted the Street View Trekker onto a specially designed “Tundra Buggy,” allowing us to travel across this fragile landscape without interfering with the polar bears or other native species.
