Tara expeditions in France & Spain…

THE VESSEL TARA WILL BE NEAR YOUR HOME DURING MONTHS OF SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2008, PLEASE FIND ITS PROGRAM=> 



– From the 1st to the 7th of September, Tara will be in Villefranche-sur mer, France for technical trials


– From the 7th to the 9th of September, Tara will be in the Principality of Monaco.
The schooner will be on the dock and open to the Monegasques. Guided tours of Tara for the public will take place on:
Monday the 8th of September from 2 pm to 6 pm
Tuesday the 9th of September from 10 am to 12 am
Registration will take place in front of Tara.


An exhibition of photographs telling the story of the drift will be visible on the quays of Monaco from the 1st to the 9th of September.


– The schooner will then go to Hyères, France from the 11th to the 15th of September. Starting on the 8th of September at the “espace nautique” visitors can view:
 – A photo exhibition with the main highlights of the Arctic drift
 – Information on the Tara mission
 – Scientific experiments made with our partner Planète sciences
 – A 52 mn movie directed by Bruno Vienne, the cameraman during Tara’s first winter on the pack ice “Prisonniers volontaires de la banquise”
 
– From the 18th to the 23rd of September, Tara will be welcomed at the Embiez in France by the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute: an exhibition and screening of the documentary “Prisonniers volontaires de la banquise” and a scientific conference will take place.


– 24, 25, 26 September, Tara will be in Marseille               


– From the 27th of September until the 1st of October: Tara will partake in the blue Armada from Marseille to Barcelona. Four boats, emblematic of sea environmental protection will navigate together to reach the 4th World Conservation Congress. With Tara, the WWF-Columbus, Fleur de Lampaul of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation and the Garlaban of the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute.With this common unprecedented event, each one wants to highlight France’s commitment to the protection of oceans and seas and raise the French public opinion on the health of the Mediterranean Sea.
