Book of the month: Ilulissat Icefjord…

ILULISSAT ICEFJORD, A WORLD HERITAGE SITE – OLE BENNIKE, NAJA MIKKELSEN, HENRIK KLINGE PEDERSEN, ANKER WEIDICK – GEUS – 116p.

This work is very interesting to read to better appreciate the glaciological characteristics & the scenic beauty of one of the famous icebergs site in the Arctic, the so called Ilulissat Icefjord (or Kangia) in Greenland.

The place is simply breathtaking…I remember observing spectacular drifting icebergs coming from one of the fastest moving & most productive glaciers in Greenland which is at the head of Ilulissat Icefjord: Sermeq Kujalleq…Simply whaouw & stunning!

Now I see why Ilulissat Icefjord was included in summer 2004 on the World Heritage list of the Unesco.

You may view in this book so lovely pictures of castles of ice with towers & spires, ringed seals, Arctic flowers, traditional Inuit houses…

A “must have” in your Polar library…You will certainly enjoy its reading!
