The sunrise is hiding behind the Greenland flag?

The Greenland flag was adopted in 1985 and was designed by a local artist Thue Christiansen.

Two colors are represented, the white & red. Both colors are featuring on the Danish flag which shows the deep link between both as Greenland is part of Denmark Kingdom.

The Greenland flag symbolises the sun rising (or the sunset) over the pack-ice…the white is symbolic of the ice and snow that covers most of the island, the red showing the sun…
