The Prince Albert II of Monaco is on raid in the North Pole
H.S.H. Prince Albert II is at the North Pole from April 10th to 19th 2006 with sledge dogs from the Russian base of Barneo, 120 kilometer away from the Pole.
This crossing shall give Prince Albert II the opportunity to pay a tribute to His great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert 1st of Monaco, pioneer of modern oceanography, who, in 1906, undertook, on the Svalbard Archipelago, the most successful of his four Arctic exploration campaigns.
Prince Albert’s raid shall support a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the world public opinion to the global issues that represent, in the short term, risks pertinent to climatic warming and dangers of industrial pollution, which impact is all the more serious in the Arctic…further info on their objectives – GO >>
