Arctic Monkey, Lou Morgan’s Garcia Exploration 45 sailing vessel, has started her long voyage bound for Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Accompanied by his wife Zetty and their daughters Zoe, Leah and Rosie, this summer 2015 they will attempt an East (Atlantic – Nunavut) to West (Pacific – North of Alaska) transit of the mythical icy Arctic Northwest Passage.
Meanwhile, another Garcia Exploration 45, Jimmy Cornell’s Aventura (below picture), will attempt this summer, from West (Alaska) to East (Nunavut) the Northwest Passage. This sailing adventure is part of the Blue Planet Odyssey, a green project aiming to raise awareness of the global effects of climate changes on the Arctic pack-ice, the Galapagos islands, the Great Barrier Reef…
We hope both vessels will meet somewhere along the way… to take a memorable picture with hopefully still some ice and polar bears in the background!
We wish both sailing teams lots of funnnn & memorable souvenirs! Enjoyyy & safe journey!
In fact, the Garcia Exploration 45 is a beautiful exploration aluminium sailing boat of 13,98 meters designed for Arctic and tropical waters. It offers great specifications as for instance:
– the deck saloon with 270° visibility, ideal for Arctic wildlife observation, watchkeeping and navigation;
– and inside, the steering position always great once you are confronted to extreme weather…
